how to spend time in a Polish cemetery
The title is not the punchline of a joke. I just wanted to share two silly games we played recently. Yesterday, in between the rain, we taught two of the Polish volunteers how to swing a baseball bat, using a broken rake. One of them has a nice, even swing; the other one appears to lack the killer instinct of a Wade Boggs or a Sammy Sosa, the swing being lethargic, to say the least.
Today was even more fun. While we were resting up for the long walk back to the toolshed, Dan came up with the brilliant tic-tac-toe-in-the-dirt, also played with the same broken rake. To be continued tomorrow, the totals are Bridget 1, Laurie 1 and Dan bringing up the rear with a sad score of zero.
And tonight, after a fabulous dinner at a Ukranian restaurant, Bridget and I reenacted some of the famous sword-fighting scenes from The Three Mustekeers with our poster holders. Do we know how to have fun, or what?
Ages?
Laurie = 50
Dan = 22
Bridge = 18
